Why Is Clarity About The Definition of a Marketing Campaign So Important?

Every single company on the internet has a different definition when it comes to a marketing campaign. Even when you analyze different companies within the same ecosystem, two companies that both help automate emails and SMS, have two different definitions for a campaign.

What's important is that no matter what everyone else considers a marketing campaign, you've determined what it means to make sure that people know important messages about your business when they see an asset of a campaign.

1. What benefits do you offer me (the client)?

The priority for marketing is to spread the offer(s) and drive conversion, otherwise the business is probably not making much money. Campaigns are the structure of which you present the offer. A campaign can refer to the entire campaign for a length of time (winter season or quarter 4), or can be defined by the specific segment of the audience you're presenting valuable information too.

2. What's the price?

Since we're able to tailor campaigns, you may use campaigns as a way to segment prices. I know, this may sound a little confusing. Let me clarify. You design campaign A to present a price for an item or service that audience A is likely to resonate with and need. You can also design campaign B to market the same or a different item to audience B, who is likely to resonate with the offer differently.

3. What's your company culture?

Some like to refer to this as, "what makes you special". I like to think of it as what is your WHY? We all hear about why over and over again. But what I mean is, what's important to you? Why do you do what you do? Why do you make the choices you make? What sets you apart or even why should I choose you instead of a better choice - a more attractive choice?

Sometimes people make decisions about business because they align with you about something that's super important to them. Sure, you may first think politically, but in reality, it should be much deeper than that - then again, maybe it's not; and that's exactly what does align you.

What's truly important at the end of the day is clarity.
